İpek Şahinler is a PhD Candidate in Comparative Literature at the University of Texas at Austin, and an Assistant Instructor at the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies. She specializes in queer narratives from the Global South, with a special focus on modern Turkish and Mexican literature. She founded the reading group called Turkish Literature in Translation, and runs it alongside its adjacent podcast LiteraTurca.

Researching and teaching: queer theory, gender studies, Middle Eastern and Latin American literature, global literary networks, borderland studies, translation theories, archival studies.
